Piccolo is the first house the Brookes family purchased when we fell in love with Puglia almost fifteen years ago. A Trullo is a traditional dwelling built of stone, with a conical shaped roof, and they are only found in this particular region of Italy. Trullo Piccolo dates back several hundred years, and was originally used during the wine harvest of the surrounding vineyard, to store and crush grapes.
Today it has been completely renovated, retaining all the original features while accommodating modern design and layout. The bare stone has been sandblasted inside and out, roof restored to its former glory, traditional stone floor laid with under floor central heating and completed with a 21st century bathroom and kitchen.
The main Trullo cone forms the bedroom / lounge and has a beautiful iron bed, traditional furniture, and is perfect for two people to enjoy. The front door leads onto the main patio with stunning views across the Valle d’Itria to the hill towns of Locorotondo and Cisternino, and the garden leading to the private pool.
Beyond the dining area is the kitchen cone, beautiful marble topped kitchen , with the hob situated in the old fireplace. The kitchen is equipped to the highest standards incorporating Dishwasher, fridge freezer, oven, hob and microwave.
With a rich heritage in food, we would definitely suggest you explore the local bars, restaurants, cafes and pizzerias, however, if you would like your holiday to be fully self catered, the kitchen is very well equipped and you will find everything you need to be able to prepare and cook your own favourites.
The kitchen door also leads out onto the main patio and private pool.
The rear lobby leads onto the rear patio and covered gazebo. This provides a great place to enjoy breakfast of simply relax in shade away from the mid-day sun. This area looks over Selva forest and private grounds. There is also a built in BBQ for your use during your stay.
The private grounds extend to over 1.5 acres, and have been planted with many olive, almond and Pine Trees. The garden at the front of the Trullo contains shrubs and mature herbs useful in cooking! including Rosemary, Sage, Thyme and Bay.
The private pool at Piccolo has superb views across the valley, and is ideal for cooling down from the heat of the day. The decking and terrace provide plenty of space to lounge during the day or sit at the table and chairs to enjoy view as the sun disappears into the valley in the evenings.
Piccolo has been finished throughout to the highest standards, with good quality glassware, cutlery, crockery and kitchen equipment. There is an excellent underfloor heating system for cooler months, and hot water on demand from the instant water system. All doors and windows have wrought iron grills and mesh screening to allow windows to be left open, but insects kept out. WiFi is also provided for our guests.
