Ristorante Sagittario – Martina Franca

Sagittario is a restaurant in the old town of Martina Franca, down a quiet backstreet. (in Via Quarto).  One of our real favourites, it is an eatery, which serves a minimum of 200 covers an evening, and the noise levels can become unreal !

But if you like people watching and being part of “real” Italian life this is a fantastic place to eat. Ask for a table in the middle of the restaurant, and watch the crowd. If you have had a quiet day  by the pool and want atmosphere whilst you eat then this is your place, almost 100% locals, and almost no tourists …
And the food…fantastic high quality, great value. Home made bread as part of the cover charge, the finest baked potatoes, and “a la Griglia” meats, succulent from being cooked in the wood fired Pizza Oven. They are equally happy for you to just have a single pasts dish or pizza , if you do not want a full meal.
Tables all have fresh table cloths for each diner, cloth napkins, perfectly clean glasses and a posse of very attentive and efficient waiters. After 8pm there is a long queue for tables, and they do take-away as well so the kitchen is heaving.
Wine is well priced, with a good range of bottles, however we just had the carafe wine which was very good value.
